New Work From 2016

After taking some time off from painting I'm back with the modest goal of paining a piece each week, at least for the winter. I have no goal other than to have fun messing around with paint. I'm looking to try new things, but mostly I'm doing old things. It's the old dog and new tricks problem. Here is what I've been up to since I last added things to this blog:

Abstract Floral 18x24" 45x60cm acrylic on hardboard

Top of the Bureau 18x24" 45x60cm acrylic on hardboard

The Still Life of African Violets 18x24" 45x60cm acrylic on hardboard

Misty Morning Along the Boulevard 18x24"45x60cm acrylic on hardboard

In addition I did some new covers for my books:

New Covers

Painting has pretty much stalled out again. I'm spending two hours a day working on my next novel, so I'm not discouraged by my lack of inspiration to paint. I've painted some 1,500 pieces in the last 13 years, so perhaps I've painted all the pictures I have in mind. And since I don't sell my work (for less than $100,000) I've no reason to paint the same things over and over again.

I did, however update the covers of my books, using the same artwork, just switching places with the titles. The titles are now in boxes instead of the art. An improvement, I think.

Note: The Bright Black Sea box is now black rather purple as it's shown here.
